Shopping for Work
A few months ago, a blogger friend was going into the corporate world for the first time. And having had no experience working in an office, she had the problem of not knowing which clothes are appropriate for work. Moreover, she didn’t think she has enough clothes for work.
I offered her these simple tips:
- Bottoms in neutral colors. Skirts and slacks in black, grey, and khaki or chocolate brown are your best bets. They’re easy to maintain (clean) and easy to mix and match with tops. When buying bottoms, I usually think of the tops I already have. I only buy a bottom if I can wear or pair it with at least 5 tops.
- Comfortable tops. Your tops should be comfortable enough to be worn from your house, while commuting, and at work. Your tops must not be too revealing. Avoid white tops or tops that are easily soiled, unless necessary. As a rule, I only buy a top if I can pair it with at least two bottoms I already own or plan to buy.
